Handwoven Turkish Towels from Guatemala
Our 100% cotton, handwoven towels are co-created with textile designer Luna Zorro who works directly with weaving cooperatives and artisans in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. The towels feature classic muted tones in grey and white with delicate hand-tied macrame fringe at each end.
Turkish towels have been adored for their extreme versatility. Made from the highest quality cotton, these towels are soft and stylish enough to wear as a scarf or use as a throw, and durable enough to take with you to the beach or a picnic as a blanket or table cloth. These soft, multifunctional towels are just as absorbent as traditional towels but are far more lightweight, quick-drying, and long-lasting. They're the perfect all around, take with you anywhere textile, and are ideal for travelers or as a gift.
Our towels are machine washer and dryer friendly, although we recommend line drying.
The artisans employed by Luna Zorro work from their own homes, decide their own hours, and set their own wages. Molly Berry, founder of the brand, believes it is up to them to decide the price of their labor and talent, which she says is "hardly something that can be measured." She provides reliable work and a consistent income to the weavers she collaborates with, and our towels are not only sustainable but directly impact the artisans who made them.
Luna Zorro represents a dignified partnership and workplace, always practicing the following philosophies:
- No child labor
- No forced labor
- Fair wages set by the weavers
- Commitment to non-discrimination
- Commitment to gender equality
- Flexible working conditions
